Last week’s goals:
For the first time in a long time, I’m setting goals two weeks in a row and let’s celebrate that for the win it is. I turned down an all-expenses paid trip to Houston for next week because I need to get my life in order. I need to cook for the freezer. I need to find the want to work out again. I need to catch up on all the laundry. I need to read. I need to purge. I need to redo my about page. Most importantly, I need to just be home.
I felt mostly good about this week. My Rails Course (Sign up to learn how to code with One Month here) was basically another weekly commitment, which we know I’m strapped on already. This week’s workload, though, was doable and seems to be kinda on-par with what we should expect each week. And, it’s only for five weeks. I’m 20% of the way done!
I’m on vacation this week, so I’m going to be slightly ambitious, but still realistic. I mean, I’m basically getting 40 extra hours towards my own goals!
Read 100 pages of The Longest Ride
I absolutely did! The book is quite an easy read, even though it’s one of the bigger books I’ve read lately. I just checked my Goodreads account to confirm this: I have read zero guilty pleasure books this year. The only fiction I read was Go Set a Watchman by Harper Lee and I wouldn’t call that “guilty pleasure.” I’m really glad I decided to pick this up for a change of pace. Plus, now I’ll have an excuse to watch the movie!
Weeks 12 of Smartly MBA
Yes! This was an easier week! I hope to really buy myself some wiggle room on this one this week. My idea is that if I can finish the curriculum more quickly (I just finished Week 12 of 16, so you do the math), I can buy myself more review time. I want to go back and redo all the SmartCases again. I’d also like to do the $100 MBA, which I already have, as a course refresher if I have the time. The sooner I finish the curricula, the sooner I can start reviewing.
Week 1 of Rails 5 OM Course
Yep! All submitted for Week 1 of this! (Sign up to learn how to code with One Month here) My schedule has traditionally been that Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday were Smartly days. For OM Rails, I thought that I’d have OM take over Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday. With OMR Office Hours being on Thursdays, though, I’m certainly going to have to rethink my schedule. We’ll have to see this evolve over the next week.
This week’s goals:
- Finish The Longest Ride (start: pg 151)
- Weeks 7, 13, & 14 of Smartly MBA
- Week 2 of Rails 5 OM Course (Sign up to learn how to code with One Month here)
- Redo Burke Does About Page (Scope of work outlined in more detail.)
- Make a plan for completing the remaining pages on Portfolio Site
- Get Inbox Zero
- Block Chain 101 (Sign up to learn how to code with One Month here)
- Make a plan for watching and reviewing the FinCon presentations
