Last week’s goals:
Well, let’s start with pointing out that I didn’t set goals last week. Yep, you didn’t miss anything. It’s because everything was crazy. Casey is gone right now. It takes a bit emotionally and physically to prepare for that. Last weekend, I was perhaps inappropriately distant and busy. The result was a weekend and a week of catch up rather than proactive-ness. It was a lot of confusion and moping and struggling to get my feet back under me.
My reflection this week is a measure of my past and “shouldabeen” goals from last week.
Finish at least 7 days of the One Month HTML Course
Yep! You can see the details of some of the projects for the class on my Github account here. Wednesday is is my OneMonth-aversary! That means my goal for this week is going to be to wrap up the course before then! This should be easy since I only have one project (the landing page built with Bootstrap) left. I’ve actually finished every other video. When I finish this, I’m going to give myself the week off. You can always start learning too with this link here!
Nope. I did finish reading You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life as part of the Shield Sisters Initiative Book of the Month. With that, even though I’ve had a couple of months of no reading, I’m still 4 books ahead of schedule on my Goodreads Challenge (16 of 20 done).
Going back to Laura Vanderkam’s I Know How She Does It: How Successful Women Make the Most of Their Time this week. I just finished doing my own 168 Hours exercise that she’s known for, so I’m excited to get back into this!
Check in on Tending Sheet from Powersheets
I love my powersheets. I love, love, love my powersheets. Guys, I’m definitely only gifting these to people from now on. I cannot wait. My life has been changed because of these.
Week 2 of SEO Summer School
Nope. I didn’t make any progress on these. I’ve decided to pivot and start on Elite Blog Academy starting next week. Too many weeks of stagnation means it’s time to move on!
Weeks 2 & 3 of Smartly MBA
I ended up having to play a lot of catch-up because things kept me from finishing this last week, but I did successfully catchup and I’m currently up-to-date on the course! This week was Microeconomics, which brought make
memoriesflashbacks of college. Remember that time I got a D in Micro? Yea, I do.
Find one freelance writing opportunity (sponsored post okay)
I found not one, but TWO sponsored writing opportunities! One has already been published. You can read it here. The other should go live later this month. Here’s one thing to know: You don’t get paid when you write these things. Most of them are on a Net 30 or Net 60, which means you (I) only get paid 30 or 60 days after the post goes live. So far in August, I’ve earned $500. I’ve already been paid $50, of which I set aside 40% for taxes, as I always do. Of the $500 I’ll earn, I’ll set aside $200 for taxes, netting $300. Taxes are always such a bummer.
Since there’s nothing I can do about when I get paid on these fronts, I’m going to be doing the different things I can do to bring on clients at a reasonable pace. I’m going to pitch for an hour or two each week, but I’m also going to be investing my time in following up with leads and bringing up more recurring streams of revenue. EBA is going to be a big part of this, so I’m definitely excited.
